We believe that in order to manage the health care of the country, the work should start by focusing on the young population going to school. That’s why we have drawn our attention to the school sanitation of the country and are taking over the National School Sanitation Initiative (NSSI) that was launched by GTZ in collaboration with MoHRD and MoUD. This went into oblivion with the completion of the project of GTZ (now GIZ) but as the site was being personally managed by a team, it has been handed over to SSF for taking up school sanitation with a fresh approach.

He is the main architect of the online Doctor’s Advice for the needy and this program would also begin soon. He would be looking after the Health Check-up Program of the Shelly Shaurya Foundation.
In the past, when Dr. Mohit was still a student at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, he was assisting Dr. Meeta Sinha in providing medical advice to the Students who wanted an online diagnosis for their ailments at www.schoolsanitation .com website of the National School Sanitation Initiative and helping the school students.

Design DirectorIt all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
Shelly Shaurya Foundation is taking over the management of the National School Sanitation Initiative (NSSI), under which School Sanitation was taken up systematically for the first time by the GTZ (now GIZ) with the Ministry of Urban Development, GOI and the Ministry of Human Resource Development during 2008-2013.
The Salient features of the Program:
Chronology of School Sanitation
2008: A Survey by GIZ was done pertaining benchmarking of the school Sanitation so that bench mark parameters could be decided.
2008: A National School Sanitation Manual Drafting Committee was formed to prepare and finalize a “National School Sanitation Manual” so that, based on its parameters, efforts could be made to improve the school sanitation scenario in India. Our present treasurer, Ms Neeta Srivastava, was a member of that Committee and was an active member of the NSSI team. Mr. Shelly Shaurya was the photographer for the Initiative and he provided certain very excellent pictures that were converted into posters by NSSI. The National School Sanitation Manual was adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development after it was ratified by the States and the MoHRD, GOI, during the State Education Ministers’ Conference in 2008.
2009: A software capable of doing Online Sanitation Ratings for the schools was made and incorporated into the website www.schoolsanitation.com. The website and the “Online School Sanitation Ratings” were launched in July 2009 by the Union Minister of HRD, Mr Kapil Sibal. Between 2009-2012, more than 4500 schools were rated online for their sanitation facilities and practices, and 973 schools were awarded in different categories, with only a few schools scoring more than 90% and placed in the best category.
2012: The National School Sanitation Awards were handed over to the then Union Minister HRD, Mr Pallam Raju, in November 2012. Currently, with the advent of the NDA Government, school sanitation has taken a back seat, and other programmes of sanitation are being implemented. The idea is to revamp the “National School Sanitation Initiative” in its new avatar so that this important health initiative is brought back to the fore. SSF has taken over the management of the National School Sanitation Initiative and its website, www.schoolsanitation.com.

In our mission to serve the community, we conducted health check-ups of budding sportspersons and a section of tribal community in the city of Imphal, Manipur. Our consulting doctor Dr. Mohit Sinha did health check-ups of cricketers from three academies and people living in that community.
We will continue to work in this space and are striving to increase our coverage area.
We are in the process to revive the NSSI and you can click on the following link to know more.
