Ladakhi Bactrian Camel

During my trip to Ladakh in 2019, I visited Hunder Village in Nubra Valley and was captivated by the resilience of Bactrian camels and their significance to the local community. However, I couldn’t ignore the neglect they faced, particularly the lack of essential support.

Following my visit, I dived into researching about them. Realizing the minimal attention they receive, especially their omission from animal census records, I decided to bring attention to their plight.

These camels possess untapped potential to benefit the people of Nubra Valley beyond just tourism.

Motivated by this, I decided to share my experiences, suggestions, and research on the indigenous Bactrian camels of Ladakh through my new short eBook, “The Last Survivors of the Silk Route”!
